My name is Jennifer and I'm the single mom of a three year old litle girl. I am in desperate need of help paying my rent but only temporarily and I wil soon be able to pay it back. I just graduated law school and current work at the state's attorneys office. I am willing to prove everything about who I am if I can find a program or someone who can help. I will be an assistant state's attorney once I pass the bar exam. About 18 months ago my ex-husband left me and my daughter the day before we were moving into a new apartment. I was a student and a mother at the time and did not work. The new landlord would not let us move in because I didnt have an income and my old landlord gave us 2 weeks. I found what I though was a decent apartment in the same area. We soon find out it is infested with mice and roaches. Thinking that I would pass the bar (and get a substantial pay increase) I took a apartment that cost more. Then I didnt pass- probably due to stress and the fact that I worked full tie as a nanny at that point and couldnt take off anytime. Now here we are again. I am 1 month from taking the bar and I was forced to take time off from work. I was already behind on rent and now I cannot pay Jan. and Feb. rent. My landlord says thatI have 15 days to pay. My ex...who has 3 other children is evading child support and the state can only take 20% of his pay AFTER the other child supports..this is only 200 a month. I have no family to ask and I am very scared that my daughter and I will be on the street. I have bad credit from college and I do not qualify for any loans and I have noone to co-sign. I can't get state assistance because my pay -even though i'm not working for two months- is to high.
